Wrap Mini Dress with Wide Button Cuffs Sewing Pattern

Cut the front piece, the sleeve and the cuff twice, mirroring each side, and cut the back piece on fold once. Cut the ties on fold twice. If lining is desired, cut another set of the front and back pieces, shortening the length by 1.5 to 2 inches (4 to 5 centimeters) and trimming the neckline by ½” (1cm).

If not using lining, sew the front pieces to the back piece along the side seams and shoulders, and overlock the seams. Finish the neckline by folding the edges under twice by ¼” (0.5cm). If using lining, sew the lining to the dress along the neckline and iron the edges flat making sure to hide the lining edge by shifting it ½” (1cm) away from the fold line.

Sew the sleeves: Sew the cuffs along the bottom and sides and pull them the right side out. Press them flat, make button holes, and attach buttons. Stitch a loose thread along the bottom of the sleeve and pull the thread to create a gathered effect, adjusting the length as needed to fit the cuff. Sew the sleeves together and sew the cuffs to the sleeves. Align the notches and pin the sleeves in place. If the sleeve cap is too wide, stitch a loose thread along it and gently gather to fit into the armhole. Overlock the armhole seams.

Make the ties, and make a buttonhole on the right side seam of the blouse at the waistline. Attach the ties to the dress (the longer tie to the left side of the blouse).

Finish by hemming the dress.
